You Rush Into Destruction Cos You Don't Have Nothing Left, The Mothership Can't Save You So Your Ass Is Gon' Get Left...

Well I wanted an afro... I searched high and low for afro hair in black hair shops but pickings were slim and everything just looked like bad fancy dress wig hair to me... So i've opted to have braids for the time being... My search for decent quality afro hair continues...

Looking very ethnic i'm sure you'll agree!! lol
Off to work on the paper dress project (previous post) now. xx

I'll Watch You Drown In The Shower Pushing My Life Through Your Open Eyes...

Attended my first fashion lesson yesterday!

Our first project is to design and make an outfit using only newspapers and magazines... From what i've seen most people seem to be going the Lady Gaga's Monsters Ball tour / Beyonce's Sahsa Fierce tour route = Think very structured, plenty of asymmetry etc.

This all looks good but I wanna do something different with mine, got a book out from the library called 'Pornogami'... Yep you read it right, using the paper folding techniques of origami the book instructs you how to construct paper vajayjays and other private parts... Which gave me the idea of using only page 3 to create my garments in controversial shapes...

Hmm, I realise I sound like an absolute perve right now, but if I can push the idea through I think it could be great.

Watch this space, i'll post my progress!

I leave you with one of my favourite mag covers of all time... Beth Ditto for Love Magazine back in 2009. xx

They Were Too Cool To Run My Race, You Kept The Pace With a Smile On Ya Face...

So it's creeping close to the time i'm gonna feel the need to radically change my hairstyle. Every time I do this I seem to ritualistically end up spending at least an hour marvelling over pictures of Kelis and Solange Knowles for inspiration. Please forgive me in advance for the ridiculously unoriginal nature of this post but I feel I really must share some of my favourite Solange hair looks...

The stunning but controversial cropped hairstyle... Which I too had for a while, though I accidentally went a step further, going nearly completely bald and then dying the remains blonde.

The afro (weave) A personal favourite of mine, love the modern shaping...

And most recently pictured here with DJ Samantha Ronson, sporting braids!!... Yes braids. Wow!

Well my mind is pretty much made up... pic 2; afro à la Solange is my next hairstyle. Hope it works out and I end up looking as chic as Solange and not like the infamous Makosi from series 6 of Big Brother. Gah.

I look forward to seeing whatever hairstyles the trendsetter will be unveiling over the course of the year as well as keeping an eye on her clothes... The girl can dress! So look out for future posts. xx

You're The Prettiest Smartest Captain of The Team, I Love You More Than Being 17...

I turned 21 this week and looking through my birthday photos I remembered it's bin a while since I updated my blog. Well débutante pose and obligatory birthday tiara aside i'm a big fan of my dress, which is a body-con velvet number from my favourite high street brand, American Apparel.

This got me thinking about velvet in general. Too often associated with period dramas and poor theatre productions of Robin Hood, it's most recent reincarnation has seen cringe-free velvet shorts, leggings, skirts and blazers creep their way into our Winter wardrobes and marry themselves up with leather and anything sheer. Even though most of this weeks fashion mags have condemned the fabric to the back of the closet or bags heading for the local charity shop, I still love it and intend to increase my collection.

Here are some items from my velvet wish list...

Shorts from Kate Moss at Topshop.

High waisted skirt from American Apparel

Body from asos.com

Velvet leggings from Topshop
