Can You Read Thoughts? Can You Read Palms? Can You Predict The Future? Can You See Storms Coming??...

My hair has been a constant source of frustration for the last few weeks; it's too long to be restrained and too short for any real styling *sigh*. Also I can't help but get angry with waiting for it to grow- I know we all go through it but it's worse than watching paint dry when you don't even have a protective style to tuck it away in.... Misery, misery.

Anyway this is a quick progress check as people keep asking me where my hair's at right now...

So as you see my hair has grown but not half as much as people keep saying!! I think it's the sides that are really killing me- why must they grow so much slower than the top?!?!?!?

 I don't do actual length checks cos I think they can be really discouraging and distract you from the overall goal, especially in these early stages, but pulled i'd say my longest strands of hair on the top of my head are almost 3/4 of an inch (at the time of writing- Tuesday 23rd July) and my hair has been growing for nearly 7 weeks.

My Essentials for the following weeks:

From top to bottom they are: Biotin, Cod liver oil and an empty body spray bottle i'm using to spritz my hair with water before I seal it with oil.

I'm rubbish at keeping up with taking supplements but a lot of people have recommended Biotin so i'll give it a go and Cod Liver Oil is something i've been wanting to start using for a long time anyway.

I will update you on how effective I think the supplements are!

These Chains You Bound Around My Heart, Complete Me, Baby, I Would Not Be Free...

There are two really irritating things about this post: 1- Althougthe seam is intentially in the middle of my leg, one of my stockings had rolled down a bit at the top and I didn't notice until I uploaded the pictures and 2- It looks like my last few pictures are crooked when actually it's my clothes rail that's crooked cos I don't have a hammer to knock it into place... 

Anyway, now that i've got that off my chest, here are today's photos... And look who figured out how to shoot full body shot self-portraits, heyyyyyy!

I wasn't really up to much today so my outfit's nothing special but these are the second pair of earrings I won in the give-away I blogged about a while ago (read the post here). I wouldn't really describe myself as much of a 'Rude Gyal' at all but I am Jamaican and they look pretty good with baggy clothing.

Still haven't completely figured out lighting and perfect focus yet but you'll just have to bear with me for that...

I Don't Know Why I Fight It Clearly We Are Through... Tell Me The Truth Boy Am I Losing You For Good??...

I know this is a few days old now but i've only just seen the finished product of Solange's fantastic video for 'Losing You' and it would be a crime not to post it. 

Everyone knows how much I love Solange, she's been a major inspiration with my hair choices and I think her style is one of the best. I've been playing this on repeat as every time you watch it you pick up on some detail you missed the first, second, or in my case 35th time you watched it. 

The cinematography is incredible. The fashion is flawless. The location (Cape Town) looks amazing and of course the song is great too. 

As you can probably tell i'm very impressed but what do you make of Solange's latest offering?? Are there any clothes you wish you could steal from the video?? I want EVERYTHING but the  shorts, patterned top and cardigan look she's wearing in the doorway is just something I need to be emulating ASAP! PATTERNSSSSSSSSSSS!!

And isn't the girl with the long braids a blogger?? I swear i've seen pictures of her before.

What Is REAL? What Is REAL Now? Am I Still? Am I Here Now? If I'm Still, Will I Feel Now??...

After braids questions the second most common thing people e-mail me about is my REAL hair, i'm not sure what's so interesting about it and i've posted pics with it before but i'm gonna quickly address the main questions in this post.

I took my braids out this week so that I could rest my hair and rebraid it. I pin it inwards for styling but you can get the general idea of what it's like from these pics Sam snapped the other day...

• Shirt- H&M

• As you can see my natural texture has grown out a fair bit but I still have relaxed bits haunting me for an inch or 2 at the ends.

• I don't take a great deal of interest in hair type and categories etc but from what i've seen over the years on the internet and in magazines my hair is probably best described as a combination of  4a and 4b. It is combed out in the pics though so you can't see the curl pattern.

• When straight the longest part of my hair is now over 6 inches long 

• In terms of protecting hair when sleeping I have pretty much the same routine as when my hair is in braids- P.M. night time oil and a satin cap, only difference is I also plait my hair before putting the cap on to minimise knotting and breakage during the night.

In The Words Of A Broken Heart It's Just eMOTION Taking Me Over...

... Nope that wasn't a typo- motion really did eff up my 'shoot' with Sem today... It was bloody freezing, especially since we were near water, so I was trying to stop shivering the whole time and on more than one occasion I was shaking like a leaf... As you'll be able to see on some of today's pics lol.

Anyway, the lovely people at Sugarlipsapparel (an LA based boutique) sent me this tank top. It's comfy- the brown top layer is all smooth with a cut out design and there's a sheer black layer underneath... Will be wearing it more when the sun actually appears!!...

Off With Your Head, Dance Till You're Dead...

I've been really crap with this blog business recently, keep doing these evening shifts at work and when I get home I just want to lie down and never get up. During this process i've been missing a lot of my favourite blogs but i've vowed to change that and will start sifting through you all tomorrow so don't give up on leaving your blog links!!!


Anyway, after a short rest from braids I was getting ready to start braiding my hair up again, just as I was about to open the first bag of hair it occurred to me that some of you will be curious to know what my real hair is looking like right now, another chapter of my 'Hairytale' as Lasophia put it, ha!


So here it is, my 50% frohawk...

Forgot about top...

...then remembered 'modesty' and whipped one on

If I can repeat this rate of growth next year i'll be so happy!!

And for those of you who keep asking me what hair I use to do my braids, even though i've told you guys a million times :p here it is...

Go buy some and get braiding!!!
